Our Vision To build a people committed to Biblical principles and values in their personal lives; to build a people who are committed to our church through prayer, worship, the teaching of the Bible, fellowship and ministry. Our Motto Our church is a place where we belong, love and are loved; are transformed and empowered by the power of the Holy Spirit to be witnesses for Jesus Christ. Our Mission Statement "Winning our families and friends for Jesus Christ, and building them for maturity and service" Milestones In Our History 1986 - On 14 February, an assembly numbering less than 12 met at 18, Jalan Girang for its first Sunday service. Charis Assembly Of God Church was thus formed. We functioned as a branch church at the time, under the legal covering of Trinity Christian Centre. During the year, Charis carried out its first 2 baptism services in which 11 members were baptised. The Sunday School was also formed to minister to the children. 1987 - On 15 February, we moved from Jalan Girang to 15, Lynwood Grove. We conducted our church's first wedding ceremony on 14 July. On 8 September, we made an application for the registration of Charis AG as a church under Societies Act. 1988 - Our application for registration as a church was approved by The Registrar of Societies on 28 June. Charis AG was set in order on 31 July by The General Council of the Assemblies of God of 1 August, the Church's Management Committee under the guidance of Pastor Stephen Chua took over the day-to-day running of the church. We moved to a bigger premise at 46, MacKerrow Road, but its use as a place of worship was disapproved by the Government in December. In compliance, the venue of our Sunday services was changed to Duke Hotel. 1989 - On 8 January, the venue of our Sunday service saw yet another change - this time to the hotel formerly known as Novotel Orchid Inn. On 27 June, the design of our church's logo was approved for usage by the Registrar of Societies. The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of our church was held at the Aranda Room of Novotel Orchid Inn on 17 December. 1990 - An EGM was held at the Aranda Room of Novotel Orchid Inn on 12 August to discuss the tenancy and subsequent purchase of a house at 137 Braddell Road. The congregation unanimously agreed to lease the house for six months prior to its actual purchase. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) approved our application for its change of use to a place of worship on 30 August. Angelic Child Centre, the leasee of the house at the time, vacated the premises on 30 November and the landlord handed the house keys to us on 8 December. We started to rent the premises on 22 December. 1991 - We moved into the new premises of 137 Braddell Road on 5 January. Approval was given by the Public Works Department (PWD) on 18 June for the conversion of the compound surrounding the house into parking lots. During the year, Charis became the "mother" church to provide legal covering for a newly formed congregation - Pentecostal Christian Community. This new church became an autonomous Assembly of God church in 1995. 1993 - Our Church building at 137 Braddell Road was officially dedicated on 28 August by Rev. Patrick Lau, the General Superintendant of AG Churches in Singapore. 1994 - Early in the year, our church's first cell meeting was organised with Pastor Stephen Chua personally leading the small group of 3 - 4 at a member's house in Bishan. ( Eventually, 2 cell groups were formed with 2 members selected to function as Cell Leaders ). 1996 - The Royal Rangers ministry was introduced in Charis on November to provide wholesome Christian activities and involvements for the teenagers. It was replaced by the Youth Fellowship on January 1999, ( a dynamic group known as "Charis Youth 21" ) which continues to function up to this day. 1997 - The Burmese Service was started on the month of April as the number of Myanmar nationals in our congregation grew over the years. 1998 - Our Church held its first Camp at Pulau Besar island near Melaka in the month of June. 2000 - About 2 weeks before Christmas, Charis launched its website to establish an "online presence" in the new millennium, and to extend God's blessings to those who visit it. 2002 - On 3 March, our church started its Sunday Worship Services at Hotel Rendezvous, after selling its building at 137 Braddell Road. The church office was relocated to 27 Jalan Binchang at Bishan. 2003 - On 23 March, Charis had its first Sunday Worship Services at The Three Rifles Building along Macpherson Road. The church office also moved to this new premises. 2005 - In the month of June, Charis AG Church opted to pull out from the Assemblies of God Singapore to become an independent Pentecostal Church & changed its name to Charis Full Gospel Centre.
