-there is no worse place to flee in trouble to than an enemy's territory

-it is a time of trouble and difficulty
-why are the afflictions of the righteous so numerous?
-God allows it since it is a refinement process

-though the afflictions of the righteous are many, the Lord makes all the difference by delivering His people
-as a father or mother cares for His children, God the Father also cares for us and will not leave us
-when we cry, the Lord hears and knows
-God inclines his ear to us, listening intently & intelligently
-Christ heals broken hearts
-in afflictions, we are drawn closer to God
-we begin to appreciate Him more
-God plucks us out of our troubles
-God uses those who are desperate by turning them & their lives around for His glory
