Pray without Ceasing
( Pastor Stephen Chua, 5th. May 2002 )
Scripture Verses :
Lke. 18:1-8
1Jn. 5: 14-15
Summary :
-God accomplishes the impossible when we pray
-we pray because there are problems & difficulties we cannot solve
-only God can provide help
-the unjust judge was Godless & arrogant
-the woman came many times to see the judge
-there was no need of application forms or fees in Christ's day
-we likewise are not limited as to the number of times we pray
-the Jews of Jesus' day limited praying to 3 times a day
-we should pray as though talking to a best friend
-this is what the original text means by praying
-the judge was wearied by the widow
-he had literally become exhausted physically by her pleas
-the oppressed widow made specific appeals to the judqe
-we too must pray specifically & lay our griefs and burdens at His feet
-like the widow, we must pray sincerely & earnestly
-we must pray in faith
-it is a challenge to pray in faith
-Christ asked if a day would come when man would think himself too self-sufficient to pray
-it would be truly tragic if such a day occured
