Heart Conditions

Scripture Verses :

Mtt.13:10-23


Summary :

-the 4 different kinds of soil reflect the different human personalities
-there was no understanding in the heart of the first listener
-it was an accidental sowing
-the birds of the air are likened to the devil preventing the seed of the gospel germinating in someone's heart
-the gospel was rejected by the Jews & was foolishness to the Greeks
-but Paul said that people were saved by the very foolishness of the gospel truth
-the second heart condition was one of shallowness
-there was shallowness of faith
-there should not be fly-by-night christians who give up at the first sign of difficulty
-the third type of heart condition was one of preoccupation with the world
-neither our boss, family or loved ones who are non-christians should take our attention away from God
-the fourth heart condition was one of fruitfulness
-the word given refers to child-bearing
-likewise we as christians must disciple and bring others to Christ
-christian growth takes time & perserverance
-a believing heart is also neccessary
-we mature as christians through gradual & slow cultivation of our spiritual walk with God
