Be Thankful To God Always
( Pastor Stephen Chua, 28th. April 2002 )
Scripture Verses :
Lke 17:11-19
1 Thess. 5:16-20
Eph. 5:20
Summary :
-we grumble & gripe at all manner of irritations
-but as Christians we must be thankful firstly for what we cannot do for ourselves
-the 10 lepers could not heal themselves
-they were consious of their condition & felt unworthy
-leprosy was a scourge & curse in Jesus' day
-they cried out in desperation to Jesus
-Christ in His mercy healed them by making them see the priest
-Christ fulfilled & respected the law of Moses
-however, human beings are ungrateful, even to God
-we need not be surprised & disappointed by human beings because they are ungrateful
-the good we do for others they do not remember, but only the bad
-Jesus was not: He highlighted the fact that we SHOULD be grateful to God for all He has done but He was not disappointed
-the Samaritan was truly grateful
-he knew that he was given grace though he had & was nothing
-unlike the Jews who expected miracles from God just because they were God's chosen people
-we must also be grateful when somebody shows us gratefulness
-the Samaritan man returned & gave thanks to God when he realised he had been healed while on his way
-he gave testimony to God which is truly important
-testimony gives glory to God & declares His goodness
-grateful people are very difficult to find
-it is better to have one sincerely grateful person than many insincere thankers
